Alodia Almira Arraiza Gosiengfiao (born March 9, 1988 in Quezon City, Philippines) is a very well-known Filipina cosplayer and model. She is of Filipino, Chinese and Spanish descent. Her father is Fil-Chinese while her mother is Fil-Spanish. She has modeled for various magazines, such as Meg Magazine’s October Issue 2007 and Candy Magazine’s November Issue 2007; has guested for several TV shows on Studio 23, Animax, QTV; and recently appeared in famous local band Pedicab’s latest music video “Ang Pusa Mo”, first aired at Myx. Alodia’s popularity began in 2003 when she won in an event called the C3 Convention in 2003 as Gun Mage Rikku of FFX-2. This led to her and her sister Ashley as Yuna of FFX-2. Ashley was featured on the cover of Issue 14 of Culture Crash Magazine, a Manga Magazine in the Philippines. Since then, she continued to cosplay various characters from different anime and videogames. In October 2005, Alodia was chosen as the Rose-It Girl during the Level Up Games’ Rose Online Event held at the Dolphin Park, Glorietta Makati City. She is also Animax’s first ever Levi’s Kawaii girl winner in the last episode of Mad Mad Fun, which was announced on air on October 27, 2007.

EARLY LIFE

She lives at Capitol Hills, Quezon City.

Alodia took her pre-school at Assumption Convent in San Lorenzo, Makati and her elementary and high school at Miriam College in Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

She plays the keyboards in her band which was formed during her high school days. They call themselves The Bestidas.[citation needed]

She is a model/member of the Philippine Avon Teen Advisory Council.

She is currently on her 4th year taking up Information Design at the Ateneo De Manila University, and is fond of art, fashion and video games.

HOBBIES

She frequents anime and video game conventions, whether it is to attend the convention or join in cosplay competitions.

As a high school student, Alodia was a member of the Miriam College High School Pep Squad, which garnered quite a few awards at inter-school competitions like the 2002 Johnson & Johnson Teen Cheer Competition. She was also well-known for her skills in the arts, and won many on-the-spot poster-making contests, and was often sent to represent the school in inter-school art competitions. Her achievements in the arts include placing first at the Ragnarok Online: War of Emperium On-the-Spot Drawing Contest, and winning first place for her “Modern Filipina” design at the Ateneo Siklab Fashion Design Week.

Alodia is also known for being selected as the Philippine ROSE Online It-Girl during the 2005 ROSE Bash. She is also the spokesmodel for CSCENTRL.COM since 2006 to the present.

Recently, she was invited to be one of the Guest Judges for the Cosplay competition in the Mangaholix Convention held at Mall of Asia last May 19, 2007.

Alodia Gosiengfiao was Animax’s first ever Levi’s Kawaii girl winner in the last episode of Mad Mad Fun, which was announced on air on November 29, 2007. It all started with my deviantart page, [link] wherein my first submissions were artworks related to anime and videogames, until I gradually added in some cosplay photos and photos I took of my figurine collection. Since I'm currently active in the cosplay community here in our country, my journal entries often tend to lean on reporting about those events.

Okay, just a brief overview on my history as a cosplayer. I started cosplaying at the age of 15 by joining competitions here in the Philippines and fortunately winning awards in those events. When I turned 18, I've been getting invited as a guest judge to several cosplay competitions once in a while, which means I am prohibited from joining the competitions, right? But that doesn't really stop me from cosplaying. Occassionally, my friends and I hold cosplay photoshoots. We invite photographers, spectators, fellow cosplayers and anyone who could lend a hand. We try to share the love of cosplaying not just during the shoots or events here in our community but also online, from posting artworks to posting out-takes and reporting about the happening.

As for collecting figures, I've been into it for 1 and half years now and one of the people that inspired me to start my collection was Danny. Before collecting, I just used to browse through photos and reviews of figures online. After some time I finally received one as a gift and eventually they multiplied. After almost a year of collecting, I also delved into photography and started taking photos of my figure collection.

Born on March 9, 1988, Alodia Almira Arraiza Gosiengfiao, started cosplaying year 2003 at the age of 15 by joining various competitions in the Philippines specifically in Metro Manila. When she was 15, she wowed the crowds at the 2003 C3 Convention portraying as Magic Gunner Rikku from Final Fantasy along with her younger sister Ashley who cosplayed as Gunmage Yuna. When creating her costumes, she first draws the characters she wants to cosplay from diferent angles including the minutest details & designs on the costumes, meticulously chooses the right fabric/materials to be used, and closely coordinates with a professional seamstress. She also makes her own props, does the painting job & finishing touches on them. While preparing the wigs, she trims, styles & airbrushes them to attain the right shade/color.

As finalist/representative of the Philippines for the Anime Festival Asia Regional Cosplay Championship 2009, Alodia w/ sister Ashley cosplayed as Amaha Masane & Shiori Tsuzuki from the Witchblade anime in November 2009 in Suntec, Singapore. Again they won the hearts of the Singaporeans with their elaborate sexy costumes & exciting acrobatic fight scene. The competition judge Kaname, a popular Japanese cosplayer, gave them perfect scores across the board.

Currently dubbed as the "Cosplay Queen/Princess" of the Philippines, she has been recognized as the one responsible in putting Cosplay on a higher level. Mainstream media has started to notice & considered it as an art form. ➤OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS:
Due to her constant contribution to the cosplay community, she has landed a big role in the San Diego Comic Con Documentary directed by the famous Morgan Spurlock (director of "Supersize Me!") and produced by Legendary Films (300, The Dark Knight, Inception, Watchmen). The huge documentary team followed 5 different people from around the world to document what they did at the San Diego Comic Convention in the US - line up includes an artist, comic book enthusiast, cosplayer, etc. Part of the team was Stan Lee, the father of Marvel Comics.

This led to a meeting with Legendary Pictures CEO/Founder, Thomas Tull, and VP Alex Garcia, regarding their new upcoming movie called Warcraft. After this meeting was featured in a very popular US-based website Kotaku.com (http://kotaku.com/5602176/cosplay-queen-eyes-the-world-of-warcraft-movie), Blizzard, maker of Warcraft, got in touch with Alodia regarding business and an endorsement deal for their new game, Star Craft 2.
